One of the best ways to practice editing the wiki - after you've tried things out using the Playground - is to add your own page to the People section. You'll find it's the same as adding any page to the wiki - just with a few twists.
If you prefer, you can ask someone to help you create your personal page. We understand that not everyone wants to edit pages, and that's OK!
Do not create or update a page for someone else, unless they are with you when you are doing it. Not everyone will want their information on-line (even if it's only visible to fellow SVCT volunteers). Remember, every change to this wiki is logged.
You need two things to get started.
Usually this is the same name as would appear in a production's credits. What name do you use at the theater? Maybe Chris rather than Christopher. Or you'd rather just go by your first name or a nickname, e.g., Xavier, The Extremely Loud.
For many people, it's much easier to recognize you by a photo rather than a name. The photo should be a square or portrait head shot, Jpeg (.jpg), and under 300 KB is size.
We organize things by first name. Go to the People page and see if the first letter of your name already exists.
Edit button for your letter.OK on the Link Configuration popup windowSave the sectionOK on the Link Configuration popup windowSave the pageAt this point, you name will appear on the list and your name will be in red, as your page has not yet been created.
Click on your name. You will be presented with a page saying: This topic does not exist yet.
Click on Create this page
in the right hand buttons. This will display an edit screen with a template for your personal page. Just replace what's there with your personal information.
You can click on the email address or phone number to change them. Enter the new value into the Link Target field
If you do not have a SVCT email address, you can replace what's there with any email address you want us to use. Or enter the word ask if you prefer not to give it out.
To add your photo, click on the existing Your Picture Here. This will bring up a Media Configuration window. Click on the icon to the left of Image or document file:
and upload your picture. You can see the steps to do that here. Make sure you set the image Width back to 200.
If there is a section you do not want to fill in, you can delete it.
Take a look at some existing profile pages to get an idea of what you might want to say. You can always start your page and Save it. Then come back later and add more information.
If you have any questions or need help, reach out to your fellow volunteers or to one of the Wiki Admins. We're friendly and here to help!
