Adding A New Page
So, you're comfortable editing pages and working with the Visual Editor Toolbar. You're now ready to add a new page.
Maybe you want to add a new Thought, or add some guidelines for using a new tool in the Scene Shop.
Here's what you do…
Create a link to the new page on an existing page
Go to an existing page and create a page link to the new page.
For a new Thought:
- Go to the Thoughts main page
- Add your page title, something like “Living on an Actors Salary” – in this case at the top of the list (newest first)
- Select the text with your mouse
- Accept the defaults and just click
OKon the Link Configuration popup window - And
Savethis page
For the Scene Shop example:
- Go to the appropriate page in the Scene Shop
- Add something like “How to use the Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster”
- Select the text with your mouse
- Accept the defaults and just click
OKon the Link Configuration popup window - And
Savethe page
A this point, you'll see the new link on the page, but it will be red rather than the normal green.
Then create the new page
After you've created the page link (now glowing red), click on it.
You will be presented with a page saying: This topic does not exist yet.
Click on Create this page
in the right hand buttons. This will open up an edit page where you can create the new page.
Add a page title!
When you create a new page, the first line should always be the Title of The Page.
- Type in the title text
- Click somewhere on the title
- Go up to the Visual Editor Toolbar and click the Headings option
- Select H1 for the main page title
Go forth and create the rest of the page. You can always use the smiley (here's how) to flag areas that need to be addressed … sometime later on.
Exceptions & Sub-Namespaces
Some areas have special steps when adding a new page, or a new sub-namespace. People & Productions are two examples. When in doubt, check here or ask a Wiki Admin, especially if you are planing on adding a lot of pages or a new namespace.
