Design Meetings Design meetings are when the Director and PSM meets with their design team to discuss the direction, look, sound, and feel of the production. It is also a time to ensure proper communication is happening between the design team (designers) and the production team (Director and PSM).

Post Production Meeting Once the production has closed, there will be a final “post mortem” meeting. This meeting will be run by the Producer, and should be attended by the Director, all designers, the Builders and the PSM at a minimum. Representatives from the cast and crew may also attend.

Load Out After the performances are concluded, it is the responsibility of the Master Builder and their crew to clear the stage in preparation for the next show. Before Load Out, the Master Builder should meet with the next production's Master Builder and PSM to see what elements of the set, if any, can be reused and to work out the schedule for the Load Out and Load In. The Master Builder will also create a load out plan with a crew and assignments ready to go.

Performances During performances the PSM is responsible for every aspect of the production from call times to clean up and lock up at the end of the night, and from backstage dressing rooms to the Box Office. PSMs will be in constant contact with their crew and ensure that any issues are dealt with swiftly and quietly. There should be no performance notes given during performance days. Dress Week This should be the final week of rehearsals. All aspects of the show will run as if it was a true performance, including costumes, make-up, SFX, pre-show and intermission. Tech Crew will be in full dress including tech crew gear (flashlight, knife, etc.).

Tech Week Abandon all hope, ye who enter here. Once Tech Week begins, directors will “hand the reins” to their PSM, it is now their show. The PSM oversees the insertion of all technical aspects into the show and synchronizes them with actor blocking. The PSM is ultimately responsible for ensuring that this week runs smoothly and efficiently.
